There’s a huge warehouse sale this week at one of my favourite tack stores. I had gift cards saved up since Christmas and my birthday so I only ended up spending about $47 out of pocket. Yay me! And yay Tucker. He got spoilt! And yay for saving money while being a tack ho! I should have taken a picture of my overflowing shopping cart. One day I’ll remember I have a blog and need pictures to make it more fun.
Sooo… what I haven’t mentioned on the blog yet is that I am purchasing Tucker in May. Which means I need all the things! Luckily this warehouse sale happens twice a year so I can spread out the purchases a little.
In an effort to shop using only gift cards I started planning months ago. I started making a list of what I “needed” with the items regular price. The list got scary. The dollars started adding up. So I started making another list of things I “needed” this year (side note: I’m not doing much showing this year so some purchases could be put off until next year). This was still a scary list and way more than my gift cards. The third (and final) list was stuff that was “needed” until the next sale in the fall. When I added it up with tax it was just under the gift card amount. Factor in a few inevitable impulse buys and I was still comfortable with the amount. I was also hoping that once the sale prices were factored in maybe I’d have a little left over. That was an empty hope if ever there was one. Tack deals are my weakness! As you can see from my list, most prices did drop at least a little. As you can also see from my list (see the top right hand corner) there were some deals I couldn’t pass up.
I bought him a beautiful new leather halter (regular $89.99 on sale $59.99) that I’ve been eyeing for awhile and even got a nameplate for it. He’ll probably only get to wear it on the trailer and at shows as he’s a brat and likes to play halter tag (halter destruction count in the last two weeks is at 4). So I stocked up, got some necessities for myself, some much needed stuff the Tuck and some splurges.
